   Christopher J. Smail Memorial Scholarship
Information and Application

The Board of Trustees of the Lewes Public Library established an annual $1,000.00 scholarship in 2007 for graduating high school seniors. In 2011, the scholarship was renamed in memory of Christopher J. Smail, a past recipient. The scholarship is a one-time grant designated to encourage higher education study by helping to defray college expenses including tuition, fees and books. An applicant must be a Delaware resident from the Lewes community graduating from high school in the current school year.

This scholarship grant is based on prior work-based or volunteer commitment to the Lewes Public Library and academic ability.   A committee, made up of library staff personnel, may interview applicants should there be a need for further evaluation.   All decisions are final.

The scholarship will be paid to the recipient at the time of graduation.

The 2011 submission deadline has passed. Please check back on this page for announcement of the 2012 scholarship. The application is available here. Please include two references.  The reference form is available here.  Please ask references to come to this web page to submit their evaluation.

Optionally, you may print out this form and submit directly to the Director.
